VU+Uno 4k SE - reverse engineering

Short status update on a project that many of you should know: We all
appreciate our boxes, but the eternal bottleneck at Broadcom (BCM) is well
known. The proprietary driver blobs (etc.) only exist as precompiled binaries
against ancient kernel states (4.1 era). An upgrade of the base has always
failed on the wall of closed drivers.dvb-bcm...
I've been struggling to crack exactly this hurdle in the last few weeks.
The approach: No risky hex patches or tinkered binaries. The original
Broadcom modules remain 100% untouched. Instead, I adapted the kernel
infrastructure under 7.3 and built it as a bridge in such a way that the old
blobs think they are running on their usual 4.1 kernel.
Current status:
The proprietary kernel modules load cleanly (no, no). Exec format
errordisagree about version of symbol Hardware init: is applied cleanly and
the framebuffer device is initialized. /dev/fb0 The first graphics output is
ready, communication with the video pipeline is underway.
The whole thing is still a work in progress, but the biggest milestone – the
hardware-related foundation and the framebuffer – is stable. When the last
edges are smoothed and Enigma2 docks cleanly, I will provide a detailed
technical report. Just wanted to let you know: There's something moving
in the substructure!
